SWTOR Tip of the Day: Play the Imperial Agent For a Great Story

If you are on the fence about trying to decide which class to play, try the imperial agent.  I have heard over and over again that this class has the best story by far.  It seems as if Bioware had a lot of fun writing the story line for this class.

I’ve personally only dabbled a bit with the class (the cover system is not to my liking), but from what I’ve seen so far, it is a very entertaining storyline.  I’ve also seen numerous people post that of all of the classes they have tried, this one was the best story hands down.

SWTOR Tip of the Day: Know Your PVP Medals

Here is a listing of all the medals you can earn in a PVP warzone:

  1. Medic – 2.5k healing from a single heal
  2. Demolisher – 2.5k damage from a single attack
  3. Trauma Surgeon – 5k healing from a single heal
  4. Anihilator – 5K damage from a single attack
  5. Quick Draw – Getting a killing blow on one player
  6. Combatant – Dealing 75k damage
  7. Destroyer – Dealing 300K damage

SWTOR Tip of the Day: Know Your PvP Announcements

I’m sure that during a PvP warzone, you’ve seen the Unbeatable! announcements.  How does one get one of those announcements?  They have to get a certain number of medals without dying.  Here is the breakdown:

  • Unbeatable announcement is unlocked if you earn 4 medals without dying.
  • Invincible announcement is unlocked if you earn 7 medals without dying.
  • Immortal announcement is unlocked if you earn 9 medals without dying.

In my experience, once you get the Unbeatable announcement, it becomes an automatic invitation for the gank squad to come hunt you down.  It is a welcome challenge, however and hopefully I will be able to get invincible and immortal one day.

SWTOR Tip of the Day: Server Transfers are Coming This Summer

In the latest Q&A session with the community, Bioware has stated that a character transfer service is coming soon.  There is no definite ETA, but the moving target is sometime this summer:

“We will be rolling out our Character Transfer Service in early summer,” said Dallas Dickinson, senior producer of live services. “First we’ll have some targeted free transfers from/to specific servers, but that will be followed with a broader system where you can either take advantage of free promotional transfers to specific servers or paid transfers to the server of your choice. We know everyone has more questions about character transfer, and we’ll reveal more details closer to the launch date.”

SWTOR Tip of the Day: Spend Your Warzone Commendations on Gear

Wondering what to spend your warzone commendations on between levels 20 and 40?  A quick survey of the PVP items vendor on the fleet doesn’t give much outside of a few stims and lock boxes.

I found that you should spend your commendations on gear, if not for you, then for your companions.  Don’t be afraid to take a chance on a couple of lock boxes too, but you will get the most bang for your buck by buying gear, until you qualify for the next PVP set.

SWTOR Tip of the Day: Know How to Get More Legacy Construction Kits

I received a legacy construction kit (belt) after completing a diplomacy crew skill mission.  After doing some more research, it sounds like legacy construction kits are dropping as random loot from MOBs as well.  Several people have reported that they received a construction kit after completing a chapter of their class quest.

Do you know of any other ways of obtaining a legacy construction kit?  Let us know!  To recap, we have confirmed that legacy construction kits drop from the following:

  • Random MOBs
  • Flashpoint bosses
  • Crew Skill missions
  • Class quests

SWTOR Tip of the Day: Expertise is Important in PvP Gear

Since update 1.2, the Bioware devs have stated that expertise is the single most important stat in PvP gear:

“Having zero or little expertise on your gear (e.g. pure PvE gear) is the primary reason for people to experience a sped-up time to death in Game Update 1.2. While it was quite viable pre-1.2 to bring your Rakata or Columi gear without any added expertise into PvP, the increased focus on expertise in the PvP track of gear has made it much harder to compete with that equipment compared to even the entry level Recruit set.

Consequently, the single most effective step you can take to decrease time to death (i.e. increase time to kill of your opponent) is to gear for increased expertise. Coming from PvE, obtaining at least some pieces of Recruit gear is definitely recommended.

We’re aware that this fact is not adequately communicated in the game and that the cost of recruit gear is perceived as too prohibitive by some of you. We’re in the process of working on a solution for these issues at the moment.”

So, if you are even remotely interested in PvP, you would do well to start obtaining gear with some expertise.

SWTOR Tip of the Day: How to Get the Ice Scrabbler Jerky Schematic

Update 1.2 included a new schematic for Biochemists: the ice scrabbler jerky schematic.  It turns out ice scrabbler jerky is necessary in order to get your own Tauntaun pet.  There are currently four ways to get the jerky schematic:

-Drops from HM Kaon Under Siege final boss.
-Snowblind drops the schematic and jerky itself.
-Gargath also drops the schematic
-Primal Destroyer also drops the schematic

Of course, if you just need the jerky itself, you can make nice with someone who knows how to make it.  But, if you are a biochemist who wants to learn it in order to make a few credits, get a group and head out hunting.

SWTOR Tip of the Day: The Below 50 Crowd Needs Stuff Too!

As you may have noticed, a lot of new and former players have started playing SWTOR since the release of update 1.2.  Groups are now a little easier to find and the Fleets seem a little more lively.  As a result, there is now a bigger market for resources, armor, and weapons below level 50.  So, if you have a level 50 crafter, you may want to think about selling resources or wares to the below 50 crowd.

I prefer selling items to the 35-45 character level market.  I found that most players under 35 don’t have that many credits to spare, and players start holding onto their credits again once they hit 45 in anticipation of buying all of their level 50 gear.  But, your results may vary depending on your server’s economy (act now, supplies are limited, this article was not tested on animals ewoks),

As a synthweaver with underworld trading, I am having good success selling metals and luxury fabrics on the GTN.  I pick rich, abundant, or bountiful missions and whatever my companions bring back, I sell.  Also, any purple armor designed for the low 30′s to mid 40′s is also selling well.

Update 1.2 definitely brought players back to the game.  Whether they are new or returning, the majority of them most likely subscribed for a month.  Take advantage of the increased player base and start selling your wares!

SWTOR Tip of the Day: Enable Movable Secondary Windows

In addition to the new UI customizer, update 1.2 brought along a couple other display options that are now available.  One of the most welcome additions is the “movable secondary windows” option.  With this option enabled, you can have multiple windows open at the same time, such as a GTN window, your inventory, and your crew skills window!

Without this option enabled, you can only have one window open at a time.  So for example, if you had the GTN window open and you opened your inventory window, the GTN window would close.  To enable movable secondary windows, open your UI customization window and look for the option.
