SWTOR Tip of the Day: Patch 1.3 Legacy Perks are Restricted to Characters Only

You must pay attention if you want to purchase any of the new Legacy Perks that came with patch 1.3.  Most of them DO NOT APPLY TO YOUR LEGACY.  They are for individual characters only.

For example, if you purchase the increased XP from Warzones perk, it will only apply to the character that you use to purchase the perk, not every character in your legacy.

SWTOR Tip of the Day: How to Transfer Bound Mods to Your Alt

Have a nice mod that you aren’t really using anymore, but would like to use on your alt?

Extract the armoring/mod and place it in any sort of armor that is bound to legacy. You can then mail that legacy piece to another one of your toons and extract the piece.

It’s expensive (since you’re extracting the same piece twice), but if you have the money you can gear your alts up to par that much quicker. Really handy for those spare rakata trade-in’s you might have sitting in your bank, or the pre-set black hole pieces that drop from the pilgrim or Denova.

Patch 1.3 Roundup

In addition to the character transfer service news, there is a plethora of 1.3 update news today:

  • 1.3 is available to test on Public Test Server (PTS).  If you are into titles, you can earn specific titles for your characters by hitting level 10 and finishing chapter 1 on a new character on PTS.
  • Super blogger Dulfy has a roundup of all the new legacy perks in 1.3, including how much each perk costs to purchase.
  • Darth Hater has a preview of the new augment system in 1.3.  His post may be a work in progress, so you will have to keep checking for new updates.

SWTOR Character Transfers Start June 12

Straight from Bioware on the official forums, the character transfer service will start on June 12.

In summary, it is going to be a staged process and only certain servers will be eligible for the transfer right away.  For more information on how this will work and the potential impact on your legacy, hit the link for the official post.

SWTOR Tip of the Day: Know How to Get More Legacy Construction Kits

I received a legacy construction kit (belt) after completing a diplomacy crew skill mission.  After doing some more research, it sounds like legacy construction kits are dropping as random loot from MOBs as well.  Several people have reported that they received a construction kit after completing a chapter of their class quest.

Do you know of any other ways of obtaining a legacy construction kit?  Let us know!  To recap, we have confirmed that legacy construction kits drop from the following:

  • Random MOBs
  • Flashpoint bosses
  • Crew Skill missions
  • Class quests

SWTOR Tip of the Day: Mail Your Legacy Construction Kit To Your Alt

Upon logging in with your level 50 character, you will receive a legacy construction kit.  This item is designed to be mailed to one of your alts.  When it is opened, it will give a level specific weapon for that character.

This item is designed to help one of your lower level characters, not your level 50 character.  There has been a lot of confusion on the forums regarding this issue.

SWTOR Tip of the Day: Know Your Legacy Vendor Locations

It’s here! It’s here! Update 1.2 if finally here!  One of the first places you should go after you log in is your legacy vendor.  Here, you will find all kinds of great stuff including orange belts and bracers for purchase (assuming you have the proper legacy level), complete orange armor sets, and all sorts of perks and extras for your ship including a GTN kiosk and mail terminal.

The Republic legacy vendor can be found on Coruscant (Master Khovari) in the Senate Commercial District:

The Imperial legacy vendor can be found on Dromund Kaas (Lord Cherkolotar) outside of the Craft and Trade Market in the Galactic Trade Center:
