Welcome to bloggingtor.com!
This blog is an experiment that combines two of my passions: video games and writing. I have always enjoyed writing, but I have never found a topic that interested me enough to want to write about it consistently until I heard that BioWare was making a MMORPG set in the Knights of the Old Republic universe.
Please keep on reading to find out a little bit more about me. If you are just looking for contact information, you can click here to email me.
My Gaming Background
Much to my wife’s disappointment, I’ve been playing video games for most of my life. Gaming is the one activity that I turn to in order to relax, unwind, and have fun. Some people golf; others paint. I prefer to go “pew, pew, pew” with my mouse and keyboard. (I don’t actually say “pew, pew, pew” out-loud. That would be immature and juvenile. Trying to take down an Elite Grand Master Boss at the end of a dungeon is serious business.)
I have been playing video games for most of my life. My gaming career began when my brother and I got the original Nintendo Entertainment System for Christmas. Since then, I’ve been on countless adventures, slaying Orcs, battling Sith Lords, and even flinging ticked-off fowl from a slingshot.
My first MMO was Star Wars Galaxies. I started playing approximately one year after launch and I regret that I did not start playing sooner. I was immediately consumed (almost to the point of being overwhelmed) with the amount of things there were to do. In addition to that, I could interact with real people who could give me advice, trade gear, and help me on quests.
I was hooked on the MMO genre. From an outside perspective, it seemed crazy. “You’re paying $15 a month to play a video game that doesn’t have an ending?” For a quality game with so much interesting content and a vibrant community, I gladly smiled and said “yes.”
I’ve dabbled in a few other MMOs since then, most notably Runes of Magic and Lord of the Rings Online. While I don’t consider myself to be an expert at gaming, I do believe that as a veteran player, I can offer assistance and a little insight to players both young and old.
In Real Life
In real life, I have over 10 years of experience working as an IT Professional. Don’t let my good looks fool you….I’m actually a nerd and am reminded on nearly daily basis of that fact (the nerd part, not the good-looking part).
I am a father of three young padawans and the husband of one woman who graciously loves and supports me (often against her better judgement). She understands that video games are something that I enjoy but personally she believes that they are “icky boy things.”
